“Commitment
is crucial, a little talent, the ability to swim, awareness of your body underwater, a large range of flexibility and wanting something badly enough...”

The AQuettes compete in local
competitions with other clubs in the Southern California area. As the swimmers
increase their skill level, they become eligible to compete in Zone and Regional
competitions with Northern California and Arizona. The next step is to
participate in the National and International meets. Our competitive program
attracts swimmers from all over the United States and abroad - some
coming from as far away as Germany - to train with the club under Sue
Nesbitt.
RAQ currently holds
the 2006 Speedo Overall Junior National Championship title. The club is proud
to have 2 members on the 2006 US National Team and 8 members on the 2006 Junior
National Training Squad. The club's alumni includes Stephanie Nesbitt, who won a
Bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in the team event, and to Courtenay Stewart,
who swam in the duet and team events in the 2004 Olympics for Canada.
The AQuettes practice
three to five times a week, depending upon the age and ability of the swimmer. Our home pools are
Shamel Park Pool, Sippy Woodhead Pool, Canyon Crest Country Club Pool and Arlington High School in
Riverside.
As a non-profit
organization, the club meets its operating expenses by assessing a financial
obligation to the members and conducting various fund raising events throughout
the year. Our operating budget is approximately $250,000.
